F²F 2015/16 is now closed, except for the addition of finished quilt shots.

Welcome to Foot²Freestyle, a block swap party for 12 quilters!
How it works: Each quilter chooses a colour or colours for her quilt, makes three foot-square (12 x 12 inch) blocks for herself, and receives three blocks from each of the other participants in her chosen colours. By the end of the 12 months, each of us will have 36 foot-square blocks to assemble into a quilt or quilts, pillows, placemats, or whatever takes our fancy. The blocks can be in any style or design, so long as they are the specified size and colour. Freestyle, remember? All blocks can be the same design but different colours, or every single one different. At the end, we hope to show each quilt or other item made from them, with links to the makers. If it goes well, and people enjoy both participating and viewing the process, we will repeat the block swap next year, and for as long as we are all still enjoying it.
Be sure to visit every month to follow our progress and see photos of our work, which will be posted below the list of participants, month by month. Just scroll down all the way to the end to see the latest work.

The finished ‘quilt’, which turned into a curtain!
[…] starts us all off in June with a lovely selection of colours to play with. If you go to the F²F page on this blog you will find all the colours selected so far, and this will be updated as we receive […]
… many interesting and challenging colour combinations… I’m already today really curious about these 12 block-wonders 🙂
I think we’re going to end up with a really spectacular range of quilts, ones that we can all be proud of. I’d like to think that the block swap party was successful enough that we can do it again next year!
Of course we all will end up with beautyful quilts 🙂
Wonderful colour choices here, how exciting! My head is already with thought of how to combine what with what and how. Roll on June! Kate…..will we have a “post-by” date or do we get them away as we can…..not too late into the next month obviously!
I think if we all aim conscientiously for the last day of the calendar month, we shouldn’t go too far wrong. Some of the blocks will have a long way to travel and may need as much of a head start as we can give them.
head is already ….*spinning, falling off, bursting* but obviously not concentrating 🙂
Lost for words, perhaps! Overwhelmed and speechless! 🙂
Sorry I’m late – I just couldn’t decide what colours I wanted. Not sure whether I should post my decision here but I will anyway.
Background: Dark grey
Colours: Pale Grey, White and Turquoise/Teal blue (little bits of coral would be fine)
This fabric was my inspiration, just for clarity,

Thank you!!!
I’ve added your selection to the details above, and if people see your comment and click through to the link, they can see your inspiration fabric too, so no problem at all. At the time of writing, we are still awaiting two colour selections. I’ll send out final details once they’re all in.

I’ve been fabric shopping for Esther. There was very little in the chosen jadeite/minty blue-green, but the very nicest and my favourite by far was a sweet baby fabric with bunnies and ducklings! Did I buy it ?….you’ll have to wait and see and be pleasantly …or otherwise…..surprised Esther 🙂

It’s still open, and you’re very welcome, we’re very happy to have you! I’m familiar with your blog; although I don’t follow, I do dip in and out from time to time. I’ll add you to the members on this page, and email the others to let them know we have a new friend. Meanwhile, I’ll email you separately to request some colour and contact information.

So lovely. And though you might like to know about another quilt of Pat’s. She pieced it and began hand-quilting it before she died. A good mutual friend finished it to sell for a Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) donation. I bought it and am so happy to have both another tangible memory of Pat, but also one that will also remind me of a friendship shared between three women.
Oh, bravo, both of you, and how lovely to have another memory of Pat, and a piece in which she’d invested time and love.
