All this waiting has been very good for my To Do pile….
I have reached the worktable surface! These two Sugar Sprinkles pillow cases were at the bottom, waiting for the backs to be attached and the binding sewn on.
And here they are. The Husband’s (left) has blue floral back and binding, and mine (right) has pink floral back and binding. It’s the same print, just different colourways.
They are housewife-style pillowcases, which I’ve made with a very deep tuck-over panel inside to ensure the pillow filling doesn’t creep out when it’s compressed.
So that’s it for Sugar Sprinkles until such time as I actually receive all my F2F blocks, which will form the two individual quilts I want for our armchairs. It could be months, so I thought getting these two ready was a way of keeping this project alive.
Until then, Sugar Sprinkles is some pretty eye-candy ๐
It’s very much lovely eye candy, but now please may we see the cushion to the left and the books on those shelves. XX
Here’s a post about the cushion so you can see a bit more detail: (https://talltalesfromchiconia.wordpress.com/2016/03/12/quiet-play-2-quilting-done).
The books on the shelf above are mostly my quilting and craft books…
Congratulations for making it down to your Work Surface – and for the delightful pillows!
I was hoping to have a big tidy up in case I’m not able to give much time to sewing for a while โ and I succeeded. I haven’t seen this much sewing table for ages!
Eye candy indeed. Beautiful.
Comfy too, after a test run with morning coffee in bed…!
Most coolamatious! Really looking forward to the completed ensemble!
Me too, but for that, I’ll need a time of more safety from C-19 so everyone can mail out their blocks…
both pillowcases look fab, Kate. And the idea of making 2 smallish sized quilts to go with them will be perfect.
I think so too. I have a couple of quilts out on our chairs in rotation anyway, and it’ll be nice to have permanent versions which are the right length and width!
I seem to have misplaced my sewing mojo for the time being. Glad you made it to the work surface of your table – and you ended up with two delightful pillows to boot!
It has been great to tidy a load of stuff away because I’m no longer using it every day. My cutting table is clear and I can now set out my Anemone quilt to mark up and start hand quilting ๐
They look great and comfy โก
Gave ’em a test run this morning with the coffee in bed. Nicer than ordinary pillows because firmer and more supportive.
Utterly brilliant ๐คฉ looking at the designs has given me a few ideas ๐
Glad you like them ๐ Very comfy, too.
Iโm sure they are ๐ they look super comfy
They are lovely Kate, and go so well with your beautiful rug. Well done for getting another couple finished. (So lovely to catch up yesterday ๐)
Glad you like them, and yes, it was fun to talk yesterday. Such a pity we can’t just sit and talk and drink coffee ;-/ In the countdown to my appointment now. I feel a bit calmer after my tai chi class, and after all, what’s the worst he can say? Nothing more than I’ve already imagined…
Well done for ticking a few things off your list and your work table. They look fabulous, and seem to echo the ‘design’ of the book shelves.
I see what you mean! I had to boot Mouse and his blankie off the sofa so I could take a shot; I couldn’t do it with him there or he’d have co-opted them for his own use immediately! That dog collects bedding, the nicer the better!
These look lovely and a make a nice ‘trailer’ for the quilts to come.
And you know, they’re really, really comfy. Ordinary bed pillows squish too much when you lean on them. These are slightly firmer because of the quilted layer, and they hold their shape. Plus the florals on the back are so pretty!
They are looking super lovely ๐
They’ll complement the final quilts so well!
If you are feeling the lack of a pile of sewing you are welcome to come and see if you can find my worktable! I am very impressed! The pillows are lovely with or without their partner quilts. I hope the test results are good and you can have lots of time and energy to sew.
No indeed! I have a whole quilt that needs hand quilting, which has been sitting patiently to one side until I have a clear table. I think the time is now!
They look so happy. Love them. The fronts are my favorite part. Cheerful. ๐
They are smiley, aren’t they? ๐
reading blogs backwards again…I just don’t understand how that happens but here I am – at the pillows even though I just looked the MRI results.
Most of my house is my worktable – although the main bedroom is just for me, unless I need a space to rifle through some box/bag… The paint room bench is portable and it’s regularly moved, because it lies across the washing machine and tub!
Except for my own sewing room, I often have to fight for work surface with the Husband, for whom any horizontal surface is a potential shit-magnet!
Lovely! Can’t wait to see the quilt come together!
That may take a while, as all the blocks are waiting to be posted to me โ and everyone else in the block swap. Once we have better Covid-news….
