The piecing on the centrepiece is finished.
The nice thing about this appliqué is that the edges are already turned under and crisp, so all I needed to do was keep my stitches suitably tiny and hopefully invisible. It’s also nice to be able to get rid of all the pins, which seemed to be magnetically attracted to my hands by the pointy end…
Now I need to press it very carefully, and then I have some happy hours to spend removing paper templates and thread so I can start turning out more flowers and fillers. I’ve almost finished my existing stock of several hundred, mainly because I have a large pile of mostly black hexies sitting in a box waiting for me to decide to do something with them. I will at some stage, but meanwhile they’re using up my stock of papers…
My pile of Friendship Fabrics is growing, and I’ll have to work fast to keep up!
looking good
can’t wait to see a photo of the whole piece
That’s going to take a while… It’s currently 24 x 35″, and needs to be at least 3 times that size! Plus I’ve got a creative back to construct, not just a plain backing.
Looking good. Bon courage for its completion.
Long way to go, but I’m really enjoying myself with this one, so I’m feeling very motivated to keep going. Thanks for the encouragement!
I also think it´s looking good, but watch up for those pins. They are not to play with 🙂

They have a taste for my blood!
Yes, mine too 🙂
It’s going to be massive!
I think you’re right. Two more lots of fabric arrived in the last two days – people are enjoying the inclusiveness and being allowed to have an input.
I posted my contribution today!
I shall probably get it after Christmas, then. Which luckily gives me time to power through some of the contributions already received. I’m in danger of falling behind! Thank you so much for joining in with the fabric fellowship!
You are making such speedy progress on this! I am impressed.
Generally by this point of a hexie quilt, I’m getting a bit bored or fed up and would put it away for a while. But I’m feeling really motivated by all the people joining in, and I think I’ll be able to keep going for a good long time – hopefully long enough to finish it!
