Mouse is Not Happy with us today… He has some justification, but this is one trip he can’t come along on. I’m sure we’ll be paying the price when we get back.
I am outraged! The Staff are off on a jolly WITHOUT ME.
They are going to see Aunty Chippy in Melbourne and apparently, I can’t go. (Well, if you want to spend hours and hours and hours in a small crate in the hold of the plane, and maybe sit on the tarmac in the cold, and not get any treats or snacks or company…. Up to you, boss, but we were only thinking of your happiness and comfort – Mum).
It seems I am to pay a visit of my own, to stay with Aunty Lyn and Miss Lotti. As Mum has pointed out, this will be more fun than travelling on a plane for a large doggo such as myself, and certainly much more enjoyable than the Dreaded Kennels. We went to visit the Kennels once. It was very pleasant, but the accommodations were more…

Enjoy your trip! Mouse is a very forgiving fellow.
He is, but there will be severe side eye for a day or so, I suspect, and world-class sulking. Never mind, we’ll have our boy back.
Ooh. Unauthorised! I must read.
Unauthorised by His Majesty, that is…
cheer up Mouse, sounds like lots of fun with Aunty Lyn and Miss Lotti.
Hi Miss Claire! It will be OK so long as Lotti doesn’t steal my food or my bed too much. Aunty Lyn is top notch, though, and really understands a good ear scratch and belly rub.
Have fun on your trip Kate!
The travel day was very long and we were pretty tired, but it’s SO good to see friends we’ve missed, at last.
Enjoy your trip and the freedom of not having to consider his Majesty’s needs. He will be Soooo glad to see you back even if he does sulk.
I know it, but I can’t help feeling guilty. Lyn is more than capable of caring for him and understands greyhounds perfectly, but, well, I’m his Mum.
I know, it feels wrong somehow doesn’t it however irrational that might be.
You do become so attached to the fur kids, don’t you…?
Have a good time, Mousey!
Shinee is being abandoned 3 times this year- for 2 weekends and a whole fortnight. To add insult to injury, the usual fill-in staff is no longer available for various reasons: age, health and -SRSLY – getting a dog of their own.
Shinee is interviewing new staff next week. It’s a tough life.
Hi, Miss Stephanie and Miss Shinee! Gosh, I suppose I’m lucky it’s only the once, but thing is, normally we all go away together, so there’s a certain sense of betrayal at being left behind. When the Staff get back, I will be rather wary next time we visit Aunty Lyn…
have a great trip and don’t worry about Mouse, he will enjoy his stay with Aunty Lyn and also enjoy making you feel guilty.
About the latter part, I have no doubt. On the plus side, it’s so good to catch up with friends we haven’t seen in person for years!
Spouse here uses the dogs as excuses to go nowhere. Glad to see you are able to escape!
If I could have taken him, I would. But it’s no trip for a big dog, and he would have been miserable. I’m so glad to have a friend who was willing, able and already an accomplished greyhound parent.
