Floribunda: two thirds of the top

The Floribunda bug bit me again.

As you can see, I’ve now completed Nos. 18-20 of the Floribunda blocks and am two-thirds of the way through. Another 5 green blocks, 3 pink blocks and 2 purple blocks, and she’ll be done.

I keep tweaking the location of the individual blocks as I turn more out, since sometimes a new one just doesn’t ‘fit’ where there’s a gap. This is the latest layout, and so far, I’m quite happy with it, but naturally I’m not letting the gaps drive the colours and fabrics used in the blocks, so it won’t be the last version by any means!

Of course, after that, there’s the back and the sashing to consider. I shall have to see what’s left of both pink and green and the colours in between. What will work for sashing to complement the orange batik I had planned, and what will work with the yellow print for the back?

Only time will tell. Watch this space.

  1. Looks spectacular as always. Everything you do is a learning curve for me. I aspire to your heights and hopefully (fingers crossed 🤞) I will achieve it some day 🤩

It always makes me sad that I can’t display the true colours properly, and in real life, it’s so much more subtle. But yes, the stars are glorious: Ribbon Star is my very favourite star block.

Orange sherbet star! I absolutely love this color palette. I know I’m repeating myself, but it bears repeating. 😀

  7. Oh we’re watching all right, don’t you worry 🙂

    This is turning out lovely!
I’m a bit (ok, a lot…) behind with blog reading so I may have missed some updates. I hope your feet are both doing better by now.

  9. It’s incredible. I’d never have chosen to combine these colours in this way, and yet they work incredibly well. The bright green manages to cool the other colours down, which is so surprising to me. See? I love how your blog expands my mind. Thank you. hugs.

It works even better in real life, where you can see the lovely variations in each colour. Once it’s finished, I’ll be able to take photos outside in the daylight, and you’ll get an even better idea. 🙂

That quilt is going to be another stunner! And you are turning out blocks so fast!

Adding my “oh fabulousness” to the blocks that are appearing…and I know exactly that notion “this won’t be the final layout” – especially when I gather supplies for a themed book. And when I’m done there is always enough of the theme/colour/texture to have another book evolve. But usually I’m got another one to come to the table from the back burner. Working on a basically orange/pink/yellow one at the moment but also on the table is the makings of the turquoise one…(under everything)

    Batik love continues 💙💚💛
