The Floribunda bug bit me again.
As you can see, I’ve now completed Nos. 18-20 of the Floribunda blocks and am two-thirds of the way through. Another 5 green blocks, 3 pink blocks and 2 purple blocks, and she’ll be done.
I keep tweaking the location of the individual blocks as I turn more out, since sometimes a new one just doesn’t ‘fit’ where there’s a gap. This is the latest layout, and so far, I’m quite happy with it, but naturally I’m not letting the gaps drive the colours and fabrics used in the blocks, so it won’t be the last version by any means!
Of course, after that, there’s the back and the sashing to consider. I shall have to see what’s left of both pink and green and the colours in between. What will work for sashing to complement the orange batik I had planned, and what will work with the yellow print for the back?
Only time will tell. Watch this space.
Looks spectacular as always. Everything you do is a learning curve for me. I aspire to your heights and hopefully (fingers crossed 🤞) I will achieve it some day 🤩
Knowledge and skill come with doing. You’ll get there, don’t push it. Enjoy the process.
I am 🤩
WOW! I love it!
Me too! 🙂
🙂
What a glorious constellation!
It always makes me sad that I can’t display the true colours properly, and in real life, it’s so much more subtle. But yes, the stars are glorious: Ribbon Star is my very favourite star block.
I always “watch this space,”because your creations bring me joy when I look at them.
You’ve no idea how happy that makes me feel!
Wow, that is so pretty! So springtime 🙂
Glad you like it! Very tropical colours, which I suppose is appropriate, given that I live in the tropics…
Orange sherbet star! I absolutely love this color palette. I know I’m repeating myself, but it bears repeating. 😀
Love that description! It does fizz a bit, doesn’t it?
Oh we’re watching all right, don’t you worry 🙂
Aaargh! The beady-eyed quilt police!
This is turning out lovely!
I’m a bit (ok, a lot…) behind with blog reading so I may have missed some updates. I hope your feet are both doing better by now.
With the blocks, you haven’t really missed much: “here’s a green one, and a pink one and a purple one…” With the feet: the broken foot is mending, but slowly. The torn ligaments are possibly mending, but progress is so slow I may be dead before it finally happens!
Too bad with the feet that progress is so slow. At least you’re still able to sew!
And read. Two saving graces…
Oh yes! Books! So important!
Beautiful!
Thank you 🙂
It’s incredible. I’d never have chosen to combine these colours in this way, and yet they work incredibly well. The bright green manages to cool the other colours down, which is so surprising to me. See? I love how your blog expands my mind. Thank you. hugs.
It works even better in real life, where you can see the lovely variations in each colour. Once it’s finished, I’ll be able to take photos outside in the daylight, and you’ll get an even better idea. 🙂
Beautiful! I´m stuck with finishing UFO:s and that is a bit boring 🙂 I keep telling myself ” I must not start a new project this year” . I have already started two, LOL!!!!
I have a few of those myself, but if I’m making something for someone else or for a donation, that will always come first.
Yes, the same for me!
Watching this space and enjoying seeing those beauties come together.
It’s lucky I chose an easy block… Reasonable progress is much more encouraging!
oh my! such joy to see this come together!
I can’t quite believe it’s only 2 more rows, 10 more blocks. These colours have been such fun to play with!
Glad to see that ole Floribunda Bug is keeping you on the straight and narrow focus for completion! HA! Lookin’ good!
🙂
Now that I have a deadline, it’s a bit more important than when I was just tootling along pleasing myself about how much I did, and when!
HA! The infamous ‘deadline’. It does seem to whip us creatives in to high gear, doesn’t it?
🙂
Well, it certainly helps me keep an eye on my displacement activity!
simply gorgeous!
Thanks! I’m really enjoying myself with all that saturated colour!
What fabulous colours.
I think so too 🙂 Hard not to be cheerful when you look at it!
That quilt is going to be another stunner! And you are turning out blocks so fast!
The next row is cut out and arranged, ready to start sewing. At this rate, I’m making them faster than ScrapHappy comes around…
Adding my “oh fabulousness” to the blocks that are appearing…and I know exactly that notion “this won’t be the final layout” – especially when I gather supplies for a themed book. And when I’m done there is always enough of the theme/colour/texture to have another book evolve. But usually I’m got another one to come to the table from the back burner. Working on a basically orange/pink/yellow one at the moment but also on the table is the makings of the turquoise one…(under everything)
I know the feeling… There’s never enough time to make all the things you want to make, express all the inspiration or enjoy all the colours.
Batik love continues 💙💚💛
Here too! It’s so versatile, so colourful…
