Despite the festive jollities, I’ve managed to quilt another block 🙂
This is Block 27. It was just the next one in the layout series, but don’t you love how appropriate that fabric is? White poinsettias, sheet music for Christmas carols, white-berry holly, etc… It’s like it was meant. As it happens, this fabric was sent to me by Esther in a fabric giveaway a few years ago, and I loved the vintage feel of it. Christmassy without being in an obvious colour scheme.
Three more blocks to go. It would have been great to get two done, but at the current rate of progress, it’s going to be February (ie, moving house month, going to Melbourne month, working on ITAA month). Yeah, right! So we’ll just call it March or April before all the blocks are quilted, shall we? And then it can join the stacks of blocks waiting to become quilts. Like F²F² (aka Bougainville Nights) and Pastel Rainbow Scrappy, and by mid-March, F²F³ (aka Amethyst & Slate). I need to make a rule that I can’t start anything new next year until I’ve finished those three.
Anyway, to return to the subject…. Bee, Myself and I is a forum for ‘selfish sewing’; any stitchery which is purely for pleasure and not to a deadline or for anyone else. The original concept belongs to Carla of Granny Maud’s Girl. To find out more, you can click through on either her blog link, or using the button a fair way down in the left hand column of this blog.
Till next time.
what a seasonal hatbox! love it ^^
I know! And it was pure happenstance that I worked on it in December 🙂
Enchanting. I am a dull mistletoe green with envy for your talent & skill in the Fiber Arts. Whenever it is finished it will be divine! Happy New Year & Happy Selfish Sewing, Kate.
Thank you 🙂 It’s rather funny to watch people’s reactions when I say this one is just for me; they’re so used to me working on quilts for friends, family and causes! I think it will become one of my most treasured quilts…
I love that fabric!!!! It’s perfect for a hatbox! Love it.
That’s exactly what I thought. Mostly I don’t care much for ‘seasonal’ fabrics in traditional colours, but this was perfect.
That is lovely fabric which isn’t so festive it won’t fit in with the others but will remind you of Christmas 2018 – even a little harp to remember you were working on In The Arms of Angels.
I must also get a wiggle on with my F2F quilt – considering I was the first one this time round, I haven’t even laid all the blocks out to consider the final layout.
That’s what I thought when I first saw it, and you’re right, it will be a good reminder of Christmas 2018.
I would love to see you doing something with your F2F3 blocks, such a lush but elegant colour scheme.
Perfect festive hatbox, without screaming red and green at you.
That’s exactly what I think too. And it was all just serendipity…
Beautiful! 🙂 xo
Thank you 🙂
The fabric color and pattern is just lovely and yes, has that vintage magic… Happy Healthy New Year and successful move ~ Sharon
Thanks – to both!
I spied Away in the Manger right away; a perfect themed fabric for your hat boxes. Not overt, but perfect storage for the Christmas hat!!
There’s a teeny bit of gold bling on the edges of some of the leaves which doesn’t show up well in the photo, but overall, I like the cool colour scheme. If I were in the north, I’d say it was a box for a warm, furry hat!
Perfect!
I love it! Whenever you get them all done and made into a quilt it will be beautiful. Happy New Year, Kate!
I think it will have to take a back seat at least for the first quarter of next year because of all the other excitements, but after that I’ll be able to give it the attention it deserves 🙂
That´s a great looking fabric!!!
And perfect for the Christmas season 🙂
Absolutely!!
