And this is No. 2 on the list.
I have literally just finished stitching down the brim lining this one. I promised the second hat would be a bit more vivid. Was I wrong?
Sorry about the poor lighting, I took it with flash in the evening, since I didn’t want to wait till tomorrow. Perhaps that was a mistake, as it has washed out all the colours (and me, but also the wrinkles!), but I think you get a pretty good idea of what it’s like. You can’t see the crown, but it’s a third fabric, also very prink and bright. The brim is made of two fabrics which are alternated on the top and bottom so that whichever way you turn the brim up, you see two fabrics. I love those bold black and white patterns!
I think this is enough for me, for now. I’ll probably make one for the Husband, and then call it a day. I have other projects singing a siren song, calling me to make a start on them…
I am powerless to resist. Or perhaps I just don’t want to!
Charming!
You’re very kind, but it is a fun hat!
You are seldom wrong.😉
I am *often* wrong, I just don’t advertise it much…
Wrong? What is this word??? This time I do see Anemone in the background! And your lovely scrappy beads. Wow Kate! What next?
I have some repairs to do, a thrift shop purchase or two to repurpose, and then, *finally*, the patchwork coat to start tinkering with!
Gosh …. The brilliance of vivid colours. Love the hat 👒 Love the necklace & of course the beautiful quilt at the back 🥰
You have to love bright colours, they just cheer everything up. Speaking of which, I have an amazing find to share with you later if you have time to talk!
Can talk now if u like 😀
Snazzy! That hat’s a beaut! 💗
Snazzy is the exact word for those graphic prints! The colour’s a lot more vivid than it appears in the photos; hot pink and bright orange. My faves!
Seascape is lovely, but this is awesome! I live the pink and graphic black and white fabrics together.
Thanks for linking the pattern in your previous post, I will check it out.
I need a cosy hat for dog walking on winter mornings. Brisbane isn’t really cold, actually it’s more for sun protection which I want year-round, but I feel silly in my summer straw at 6am it 5pm in July.
Thanks! I’ve adjusted the process to include turning under the seam allowances on the sides of the crown and stitching them down for neatness, and overlocking the seam allowance between sides and top. I also only sew the top of the brim to the sides, and then hand stitch down the underside, but if you don’t care for hand stitching an extra row of topstitching to secure that would look good. I well believe Brissy’s a bit colder than Mackay; we’re regularly getting overnight temps of 27°C and more, so early morning’s the only bearable time for dog walking!
I’ve garbled song lyrics in my head… the future’s so bright I gotta to wear shades 😎 I assume this ensemble will make an appearance at Nambucca.
I certainly hope so!
Love it! Hat’s off to you!
I tips me brim to you, ma’am!
Very cheery!
It would be hard to lose, wouldn’t it!
oh my goodness! it’s stunning, not everyone could wear this but it looks perfect on you, it’s exactly what I was expecting and is marvellous with the necklace.
I thought you’d enjoy the visual, er, cacophony!
Fabulous! And so bright and cheerful and fun!
Bright being the operative word… but as I said elsewhere, hard to lose too!
I LOVE this hat!!! Your sense of color and pattern really show. You are such a talented person!
Have to add that my husband would probably be embarrassed to be seen with me in such a colorful chapeau. 😉
I’m fortunate. Mine simply asks where his hat is – I haven’t got round to making one for him yet, but he’s getting one in blue and white – with patterns, of course!
Aww, get along with you! I do love colour, and sometimes you just have to be playful, don’t you?
