Can You Teal the Love: the final word…

One more bit of great news to pass on.

The Ovarian Cancer quilt Can You Teal the Love went into the fundraising event last month. They had 4 raffle items, and between them the 4 items raised AU$7,657. That means if you average the total across the 4 prizes, it raised nearly $2,000.

The entire event (including dinner tickets, etc) raised AU$43,657.00, a stunning result.

Well done, everyone. Well done. The work of our hands makes a difference. Quilts may never set the world on fire, but they help towards making hard, painful or tragic personal stories better. To those who participated, thank you a thousand times. To those who encouraged from the sidelines, the same. To those who contributed in other ways, you are all stars.

And we’ll do it all again next year, and the year after, and the year after that, until I get too old or decrepit to lift a needle or rotary cutter.

Let me know if you’d like to help next time by contributing a block or two, or providing the means to purchase fabric for these fundraising quilt. Leave a comment, or you can email me using the details on the Contact Me page.

I love a good news story!

Wonderful result, both the appearance of the quilt and the money raised!

  2. congratulations. I totally agree “The work of our hands makes a difference.” Very often we don’t know the difference it makes.

Fantastic! Well done Kate on all your work herding us cats and, the hardest bit, putting all the parts together to make a beautiful whole.
Put me down for the next one – I’ve still got some teal fabric left.

  9. Congratulations to all the needle and rotary wheel-wielders, what a fantastic result! It looks amazing… with you at the cutting-edge, it’s not surprising, but still wonderful how you put it all together into one warm snug lovely loving whole. I would like to be one of the cat-herd next time please!

  10. first and foremost – a great big thank you to you for all the work you did to make this happen. It must be very satisfying to know you have helped in such an impressive way. Spreading the love.

Years ago, I made a promise to do this to a friend who died from Ovarian Cancer. And I’m still doing it, and will continue to do it as long as I can, even if I have to do it alone.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!! It looks stunning, as always. I wish I could contribute with a few blocks, alas I can’t sew. Replacing a button, yes, closing a torn, yes but that’s it.

  12. kymlucas says:

Kudos to all of you, and thank you!

Great result Kate. It always brings a smile when i see how you combine all our efforts. Count me in for the next one and others as needed. I strangely still have an amount of teal fabrics waiting for their next outing.

  16. That is outstanding news! Congrats to all who worked so hard on this and to you for putting it all together in a cohesive way that tickled the eye of the buyer. You have good vision to see how it looks it’s best. Has a theme for next year been formulated?

    • katechiconi says:

Yes indeed! I have the idea formulated, a brief written, a list of those who’ve already volunteered, I’m just waiting for the right time to launch it! Beginning of May, probably…
