Happy Christmas!πŸŽ„

It’s that festive time again.

To all my lovely friends, followers and casual drop-ins, a very Happy Christmas or other festive celebration of the season, whether Diwali, Hanukah or Solstice. It is a time for light over darkness, joy over sadness and love over misery and anger.

Here in north Queensland, the traditional snowflakes, snowmen and Christmas trees can look a bit incongruous as the temperatures soar and the air conditioning struggles. So I leave you with our own local version of the festive colour scheme, the beautiful soccer-ball sized blooms of the Flamboyant Tree, aka Poinciana or Delonix Regia. Tree and ornament in one!

Best wishes from the three of us in Chiconia for health, peace and prosperity in the coming year.

And I am sending you the coolness of our winter. It’s not been very winter-like for the most part, but it’s definitely cooler than Queensland! Blessings to you, my friend.

Happy Holidays to you, your man and of course Mouse – from across the ditch where the weather isn’t as hot but the humidity is a killer – aircon on…

  5. Best wishes to you, HoC and Mouse for the happiest of festive seasons β™‘

  6. Such amazing Flamboyant trees. The colours are glorious. Happy holiday season to you, too. Wishing you all the good stuff xxx

They aren’t even the best ones around. There are some in the city that are just a total mass of scarlet blossoms and you can’t see any leaves at all. Sunglasses a must… Good stuff right back, from the Chiconia Three πŸ˜‰

Thank you Kate. Christmas Day was very quiet but very relaxing. As I type my son and sdaughter are on their way to stay for a couple of days – 2 of my favourite people and none of the in-laws / grandchildren (who are all adult) to worry about!

Happy Holidays to you & your Family from the North Carolina Blue Ridge, where nary a snowflake can be seen on the spring like breeze. How I loved the Royal Poincianas when we lived in South Florida. They bloom in June there. It was poinsettias, hibiscus, Surinam cherries & pepper berries for red & green in December. I look forward to your beautiful projects & Mouse’s travel reporting in the New Year.

    • katechiconi says:

We don’t get pepperberry here as there’s not enough winter chill, or Surinam cherry, but yes to the rest! This is such a colourful time of year that it’s hard to say red and green are the seasonal colours! Mouse joins us in wishing you all the best for this festive season, and says he hopes to have a report or two for you in February /March, border restrictions and ‘Rona permitting!
