Sorry about the silence from Chiconia recently…
I’ve been a bit busy recently: visits to the dentist (the usual polish and clean bill of health), the optometrist (new glasses again this year), unpacking more boxes in the sewing room/office area, setting up my new desk, hooking up a large new monitor to my laptop, repairing the Husband’s work clothes. All necessary stuff, but not really post-worthy.
However, the yarny clear-out continues, and a new Thing is evolving. I had 4 x 100g balls of Cleckheaton California 4 ply 100% wool, 2 in the Ocean colourway and 2 in Volcano. Not enough to make anything much with, but gorgeous colours. I also still had 4 balls of the Moda Vera Tarantino in the rust and ochre shade left over from Woolly Thing. So the plan is to make another Thing in the same sort of style but maybe a bit shorter, using the California for the two ends and the Tarantino in the middle: Ocean, Volcano, Rust Rust Rust Rust, Volcano, Ocean. Only time will tell if there’s enough to make anything wearable. If not, it’ll be a really gorgeous huge cushion cover. It’s evening work, for while I’m watching/listening to TV. Also on the agenda is covers for the back porch swing seat cushions, cushion covers for the reclining chairs out there, and still more repairs.
Hopefully I’ll have something more interesting to show you next time!
Usually a picture = a 1000 words but in your case today, it’s a words that create the picture. Thanks for sharing your WIP
I think it’ll take a few weeks before it’s a finish, but at least there’s some progress π
Waiting for the next finish … πΉ
I’ll probably finish something else long before I finish this, but I wanted to share the colours, which I’m loving!
Yes me too π
At least you have some color to play with inbetween repairs. π
Exactly! And it’s very soothing, just rattling up and down the lines of crochet without needing to think too much…
I think it’s that time of the year, tidying up loose ends for a new start… and some new starts. I wrote a to-do list of bits ‘n pieces projects, and have been ticking them off at my own pace. The new year will be up to full speed soon enough and there’ll be less time for leisurely labours.
I’m aware of all sorts of ideas and jobs I conjured up during the past year, none of which are done, some of which haven’t even been started. I did a major rearrangement of my sewing room in the past two days, and am beginning to see a light at the end of that particular tunnel!
Somehow I never think your silences mean inaction!
True that. But it seems like a bit of a blank space otherwise, so a progress post was called for. Another Finish tomorrow π
Ooh, I thought for a moment you were showing us another beautiful rug.
Ooh, yes, that’d be lovely… But I reckon it’ll make a good wrap too. Only question is, for whom? (get me and my posh grammar). And something completely different tomorrow π
Some times are like that- life activities-I had a passport renewal to sort. Each updated photo looks worse than the previous one taken ten years ago. Look forward to seeing the Thing.
Oh, passport stuff is ghastly! I’ve let both of mine lapse; it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever fly overseas again due to my back not tolerating air travel for longer than a couple of hours. At least I’m spared the photo horror!
I’ve been out of contact myself. Busy with genealogy and trying to catch up after holidays and Mom’s latest hospital stay while preparing for next step in her aging journey – getting her on Medicaid, who will pay for her long term care now she’s out of $$$. Dealing with insurance and government agencies = never fun. And Medicaid is government insurance. In the past, I’ve found most government employees very nice and helpful but horribly overworked.
Your projects look much more beautiful than mine, that’s for sure.
But maybe not so practically useful in the long term…
My brother’s in the same situation with my father… It looks as if we have him situated β for now, at any rate. Glad you’ve got your head above water for a bit!
For a bit. Until the next crisis. Just the way things are.
As you say…
I love your colors! You always come up with fun and interesting things to show us. I hope it’s raining there. The news of the fires is horrendous.
No rain here, but a little down south. Not enough to put out the fires, which will need a couple of weeks of it.
Oh, man! Praying for rain and rain and good rain to come soon.
From your mouth to God’s ear…
π
I love the colors sitting beside each other. It almost sounds like it will be like a scrap happy project with yarn. π I’ll be delighted to see it. Take your time and enjoy the journey.
Almost scrappy but not; the yarn is all new… Still, when it’s done it’ll definitely be a FINISH!
