Welcome once again to ScrapHappy Day!
It’s the day my friend Gun in Sweden and I host ScrapHappy, a day for showing something made from scraps.
Here’s where I’d got to last time:
And despite a hiatus in actually sewing on this piece due to eye surgery, here’s where I am now, and I’m pleased with progress.
Those three flowers at the end of last month’s photo are attached, and so are three more. At this point, I won’t be adding any more to the length, I’ll start making smaller, squareish blocks to add at the bottom edge, which will make sewing them in easier.
ScrapHappy is open to anyone using up scraps of anything – no new materials. It can be a quilt block, pincushion, bag or hat, socks or a sculpture. Anything made of genuine scraps is eligible. If your scrap collection is out of control and you’d like to turn them into something beautiful or useful instead of leaving them to collect dust in the cupboard, why not join us on the 15th of each month? Either email me at the address on my Contact Me page, or leave a comment below. You can also contact Gun via her blog to join. We welcome new members. You don’t have to worry about making a long term commitment or even join in every month, just let either of us know a day or so in advance if you’re new and you’ll have something to show, so we can add your link. Regular contributors will receive an email reminder three days before the event.
Here are the links for everyone who joins ScrapHappy from time to time (they may not post every time, but their blogs are still worth looking at). If you’ve copied this list from previous posts, please use the one below as it’s the most up to date 🙂

Beautiful.. made my Sunday morning looking at your beautiful work ❤️
I’m just so happy I can see properly again to do all those tiny stitches!
I’m glad your eyes are better … don’t overstrain them though
No, I’m being careful.
🥰
progress is always very satisfying. Happy to hear your eye is better, but don’t over do it.
I’m being careful, but it’s such a joy to be able to do the small stitching again!
That’s a lot of progress considering everything going on. The fact you have not given up says volumes. Maybe it will be better the second time around. Sending you hugs. Hope the eyes are continuing to improve.
I think it’s continuing to improve, although if the sort of knot on my eyelid doesn’t flatten out a bit more soon, I shall have to contact the surgeon’s office to ask if it’s normal. But at least it hasn’t stopped me sewing!
[…] If you would like to join us, please let Kate know. […]
They look so bright and pretty. So glad your eye continues to improve. Thanks for hosting this post which certainly has kept me going on my hexie project.
I’m so glad, because the result of all that persistence on your part is fabulous!
little & often is what the doctor will say ^^
looking good Kate!
You’re right! But it feels very good to get back to work on this.
I am so glad you are able to sew again and the hexies are making great progress. Your machined quilts are gorgeous but for me there is something special about a hand sewn hexie one!
I do agree, which is why I keep on making hand-stitched projects too.
Yeah for your eyes being better and you being able to sew again without issues! This is going to be a wonderful quilt for sure.
It’ll be very pretty, but it’s going to take time. Fortunately, they’re in no big rush for it. For the next one, though, I think I’ll just piece together simple squares!
For a moment I thought your lost hexi project was found. You are making wonderful progress with your NEW hexi project. And I’m glad your eyes are healing. YAY
I have a long way to go to catch up, but if I avoid making comparisons, it doesn’t seem so intimidating!
🙂
I’m glad you are able to do at least *some* sewing again! And, even a little bit is progress, frustrating though it may be not to be able to do more. Here’s to complete healing very soon.
At least I can do stuff on the sewing machine quite easily, so there’s been a fair bit of dressmaking going on. But I’m getting there!
It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m glad to see you are almost back to normal again. I see in your reactions your eye is still not 100 %, but I hope it’ll be soon !
Very soon, I hope!
Slow and steady, glad your eyesight is improving. As always, I do like the hexies! 🙂
Yes, they have a timeless charm that appeals to even the most modern tastes. You can’t beat a hexie quilt!
Well done! I hope your eye is better now! Thank you for the great Christmas card!!!!
You’re welcome 🙂
