The News from Mouseland

Good morning, my adoring fans, Mouse here.

There’s something rather strange going on around here this morning. The parents have spent very little time on my customary early morning dog-worship session on the bed, and I’m feeling a distinct lack of strokies and tummy tickles. Instead, they are putting things into bags I have not inspected, and are piling them up beside the front door. Dad had sausages for breakfast instead of toast and I was not allowed to do a quality-check. Mum wanted to play with her laptop instead of fussing with my ears so I showed her who was boss by drooling on it. Lapdogs before laptops, I say, although I’m definitely not a lap-sitting dog. Mum says I’m the Chris Hemsworth of the dog world. Tall, elegant, athletic (all good so far), and not annoyingly brainy-looking (I’m paraphrasing here, what she actually said was “not over-endowed with brains”).

I digress. I’m good at that… They have Miz Lizzie drawn up beside the front door, and while I have not inspected the inside, I could smell that my bed was ready and waiting. We’re off on another trip! I hope we’re going somewhere good, with either a nice dog park or a beach I can run on and smell things and paddle just a little bit (I don’t really like wet paws). Mum’s put together a big bag of my stuff, and I made sure there were treats in there too (“Get your nose out of there, Mouse”). Normally I don’t like it when things change, but if I’m going in the car with Mum and Dad, and Miz Lizzie has my bed, we’ll all be together and I know what to expect.

I wonder where we’re going. (“Watch this space, Mouse. All will be revealed”) 🐾

  1. You will have a great time Mouse and normal service will be resumed soon. Training your humans takes time and patience but it can be done! Enjoy all the new smells and please make sure you get Mum to tell us all about the trip. Orchid and Roo ( but Mum – our Mum not yours – typed it because our paws are too big for her phone keypad)

  2. Happy holidays Mouse … you are going away with the best people in the whole wide world & I’m sure u will enjoy yourself. Looking foward to meeting you and giving you cuddles next year when we go to meet your parents at the same spot you are heading to now. Please tell your mum to post pics of you’ll having fun 🥰🤩

Thank you, Auntie Chippy, I think they’re pretty good parents too. Looking forward to meeting you (sniff sniff) next year. I’ll let you know what it’s like. Mum and Dad say Hi to you and Uncle J as well.

  3. Haha Mouse I know but I’m not telling… don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Put my mate Diesel on. He’ll tell me! Oh well, I suppose I’ll have to wait, then. Last night in Tannum Sands was good, they have foxes in the woods and I had some great sniffing! Mum says she’ll do pretty pictures of the beach, etc, later on.

Have fun Mouse, and your parents too!

    • katechiconi says:

Thanks! It’s pretty good fun already. All I have to do is snooze in the back seat and get let out for regular widdle’n’sniff sessions, and then there’s a whole new place and new dogs to talk to! Mum says there will be photos later.

How exciting! Have fun, Mouse. Going for rides are one of my favoritest of things! Boomer

    • katechiconi says:

Hey Boomie, I’ve seen what you get to ride in, and on, and where, so I reckon you have it pretty good. I have to wear a harness and lead whenever I’m out, so I can’t really stretch my legs, but Mum says there’s a 3 acre dog park near where we’re going that has a fence all round so I can really zoom!

Enjoy the trip, and don’t forget to take lots of photos, Mouse!

    • katechiconi says:

The nearest I get to taking photos is sticking my wet nose on the lens, so I leave that to the staff (aka Mum). She’ll do her usual trip reports, I’m sure, and I expect they’ll feature one or two photos of me (assuming he holds still long enough: Mum).

    Happy travels!

Have a great time Mouse – we would like to come with you but Mum says it’s too far and, anyway, you would probably take up all the space with those long legs. Love Stan & Flo x 🐾
p.s. Mum says brains aren’t necessarily a top priority if you look like Chris Hemsworth – we don’t know what she means.

You’d have to share with Mum and Dad, and they do take up a lot of room. At home, I have to keep pushing them away with my feet to make space. Mum says perhaps you’re more like Daniel Craig, not so tall, but with brains to compensate…. Mouse 🐾

Oh, Mr. Mouse–you have such a life of adventures ahead of you! Thanks for bringing us along!

    • katechiconi says:

You’re most welcome, unless you want my bed… Mum and Dad do all the work, I just have to lie here and look sweet and beautiful. I can’t understand what all the fuss is about, really. Food, strokies and walkies all appear by magic, and I can catch up on my snoozing 🙂

Dear Mouse, have a wonderful trip, be sure to tell us about the smells and walks, and do spill the beans about Mum and Dad’s schinanigins too. We used to have a golden labrador when I was a teenager. He was called Marcus Aurilius ( after some posh Roman ), and my Mum was very rude about him too. She said he was D stream and dim as a toc H lamp. He took no notice of her, so suggest you do the same.
    Much love,
    Adoring fan Cathy

Mum and Dad? Shenanigans? They’re my staff, they don’t have time for shenanigans. Marcus Aurelius sounds like a dog of good sense even if not totally academic. Personally, I have A Levels in Posing Elegantly, Running Fast, Eating Faster, Farting and Sniffing Strangers in the Groin. Quite enough brains there, I feel.

  11. Bon voyage, Mouse! Look forward to reading all about your adventures.
