It’s done.
I’ve spent a couple of days cutting strips and assembling all the blocks. Then I cut binding, stitched that on and then spent some pleasant hours hemming it down by hand. It’s not a great photo because the rain and grey skies have been relentless due to the cyclone front. A bit of sunshine would have been lovely, but no such luck. Instead of the washing line, I’ve enlisted the assistance of the Husband. I’m not quite tall enough to hold it up and pin it to the line; I couldn’t take the chance of accidentally trailing the bottom of the quilt in the mud. The standing water has only just disappeared. As you can see, we have no sun either, but at least it’s not raining. I’m pleased with how the quilting looks; just subtle texture, but it complements the idea of mountains. Not my best photography, but I might need to wait for days for a bit of sunshine and not have my quilt-holding assistant handy, so it had to be done.
Just for a change I’ve printed it onto a pale patterned fabric, and I really like the effect. It doesn’t blend into the cream backing of the quilt like the cream label I usually make, which is good, because the label has something important to say. Click to enlarge if you want to read it.
I think this is one of the best the Ovarian Cancer group has ever produced. What seemed like a simple, open-ended, free-choice idea has produced truly inspired results and a remarkable quilt. I thank you all for the privilege of working with you and enjoying your beautiful contributions at first hand.
And now, onto the next thing…
So beautiful 😍
It’s been a tremendous experience, and everyone has produced such beautiful work.
And you have worked your magic and made it one
🙂
This is so beautiful!
The theme this time seems to have set alight everyone’s imagination. It’s definitely one of our best 🙂
Wow
Yup!
It turned out better than I could ever have hoped.
I agree that it is one of the best! Such a lovely variety of mountain blocks.
What I particularly like is that not everyone has gone the obvious or easy route. There is real thought, careful selection and exquisite construction.
Fabulous!! It looks like we all got together over tea and cake, collaborated on ideas and then nutted out what we’d each do to ensure a cohesive look, all the blocks just sit so well together. Great work Kate and all the Tealers.
I think we’re getting used to working together as a team! It was a wonderful serendipity that I could pair, group and match blocks so well. I love how Mt Warning sits opposite Catbells like a twin sister 🙂
What a fantastic job you’ve done again Kate. Im proud to have my small contribution contained in such a beautiful quilt and the label looks just right on the blue fabric. Let’s hope it attracts lots of bids and makes a decent amount of money for the cause.
Well done to the Lord of Chiconia as the human quilt hanger – I had to zoom in quite close to make out his thumbs in the corners 😁
Your Bear Mountain block is the Husband’s favourite, because it features a squirrel! Every single one is amazing and contributes to the wonderful whole.
Very nice quilt!. Can you make one for me and send it to America?
But you have all those lovely ones made by the ladies of your family… 🙂
Oh yeah. But they are family heirlooms and I can’t put them on the bed. 🙂
😦
It turned out beautiful! I am certain this one will raise a nice figure in the auction.
It’s not your average-looking quilt, so I hope it will raise a good sum, as you suggest 🙂 I’m really proud of the team!
I think this design should appeal to a lot of people and for an auction that’s important to get good bids.
I have found your blog about this to be incredibly interesting, inspiring and hopeful. I was keen to see the finished article, and I’m awed by the beauty of it. Thanks so much for sharing.
ps . love that teeny sun right at the top 🌼
I’m so happy you like the finished quilt and have found the process entertaining – quilty details aren’t everyone’s cup of tea! That block with the glowing orange sun is Cathy’s, her first attempt. I think it’s my favourite!
Well done everyone! So beautiful. Amazing how you bring them all together Kate – it’s gorgeous.
This one was fun because the only brief was to show a mountain in some form or other. My creative challenge came when I had to make a cohesive whole. It was brilliant fun!
This is lovely and I feel so honoured that you worked your magic on my block, and there it is. I am bursting with pride, and I hope that it makes stacks of money for this cause.
Everyone loves your block, and I can honestly say it’s my favourite. Every time I look at it, I get this song in my head:
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt2O4Y_sQ98) Do you remember it?
Another triumph Kate, its such an honour to be a part of this great creative group of stitchers. It has come together wonderfully. Your ability to guide us all and put it together in such a way that it flows so beautifully from block to block. Your colour choice for the label is just magic. Thank you for all you do to support this cause so close to our hearts.
Robin, it’s my privilege to be able to offer my skills in such an important cause. I so enjoy working with everyone and channelling everyone’s creativity into a thing of beauty 🙂
My favourite of the Teal series! Beautiful work.
I think it’s my favourite so far, too. Although I did love Time for Teal and Signed, Tealed and Delivered too… It’s like children: you’re not supposed to have favourites, and they’re all beautiful!
Wow! You work fast. The block placement is perfect. Thank you for encouraging me to be a part of this experience.
I’m so glad you joined us, and I hope you’ll work with us again! Thank you for your contribution towards making this quilt so beautiful 🙂
It looks wonderful Kate, well done to you on having the vision and the skill to bring it all together, I’m proud to see Catbells amongst those loftier mountains 🙂
I love how Catbells in the UK and Mt Warning in NSW match each other so well! Thank you for participating 🙂
It’a fantastic! And all for such a good cause–you’re a wonder, to organize and complete this all!
I’m really happy with it, and as for the rest; I took up the torch where a friend had to lay it down, and now it’s my honour and pleasure to do this work.
and what a beauty it is! Well done to all who helped to make it happen!
I agree: the team is amazing and everyone should give herself a good pat on the back!
Yes, what a beauty! Bravo to you all!
On behalf of the team, thank you 🙂
Well done ladies, it’s gorgeous! I wish they had international bidding.
They do!
Contact Emily Fraser at Ovarian Cancer Australia if you’d like to make a silent bid. She will also be able to advise shipping costs if you let her know where you are 🙂
Thank you! Off to have a look………………..
What a beautiful quilt! It’s one of my favorites!
Yes, I think this one has turned out pretty special 🙂
Thank you, Kate. I always have fun and love that I can be of some help in the finished whole. ❤
( I remember that tune! One of my favorites when it came out in the mid 70s)
I think the fact that every contribution makes a difference without having to make a whole quilt encourages people; many hands make light work, and the variety of the results increases the beauty of the finished thing 🙂
it is stunning, incredibly beauty -full and a lovely tribute to those who lost the battle. I can see Husbands fingers at the top. Blessings to you. Jean
He did a good job, the Husband, not only holding up the quilt, but also encouraging and supporting me throughout. I couldn’t do this without him 🙂 And behind him stand all those who have gone ahead, and who inspire and motivate us.
That quilt is stunning – I love it. All you ladies should be rightly proud of yourselves.
I agree, we are a Dream Team!
It turned out beautifully, Kate, your block placement is just perfect. I hope this raises oodles of cash for the cause! Thanks for including me!
I have a pang of reluctance when I have to send these quilts out; so much love and care has gone into them and I feel a real attachment to each of them. This one is no exception, but I hope its beauty encourages good bids and raises lots of money for Ovarian Cancer. I’m always happy to include everyone who cares enough to contribute their fabric, their work and their goodwill.
As I expected, the quilt is stunning! Everyone involved did a fantastic job of color combinations and design. I also love the binding you chose and how the label turned out. How you printed that on a piece of fabric is a mystery to me but I love the idea of it. You all did a wonderful job of it.
You can buy transfer paper for your home printer. You reverse the image of what you want to print, print it out on transfer paper, and then apply it to the fabric using a hot, dry iron. I’m so glad you like the quilt, and I agree, everyone did an amazing job!
It’s just beautiful Kate. You and all the other contributors did such a wonderful, creative job and whomever is lucky enough to receive this quilt will enjoy it forever.
Thanks, Terri 🙂 I hope it gives its new owner years of cosy pleasure!
Love the message on the label. Thanks to all contributors for helping raise money and awareness. ❤️
Glad you like it 🙂 I think we’re all glad to do what we can, and certainly I’ll keep on making quilts to help raise money and awareness as long as I’m able. This is the last one for Ovarian Cancer Australia; going forward, we will be doing it for the Trudy Crowley Foundation. Same cause, just closer to home.
Local = always better.
Wow, that’s fabulous. I’d bid on it, given the chance, and I’m not necessarily a mountain person (I prefer the ocean, the beach, that sort of thing)!
OCA tell me they’re accepting international bids, and they can give you a quote for shipping to the US. If you’d like a contact email address, let me know.

That is a real beauty – so stunning. I love mountains, very inspiring x
Yes, it’s turned out really well. Everyone who participated has been inspired and the combination is a really outstanding quilt 🙂
First time I see the quilt finished (yes, I´ve been very absent from the net) and it is GORGEOUS!!!! So beautiful and I never thought that Mountain theme could look so great! Well done to you and all the other ladies!!!
It is lovely, isn’t it? Everyone did such fabulous work.
Your quilts are absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for making the ovarian cancer quilts and helping to raise awareness about ovarian cancer.
I’m so glad you like it! There’s a wonderful team working together on these quilts, and they all give generously of their time and fabric to make a contribution. It’s an important and very under-supported cause, and I’m glad to be able to help. We’re now working on the 7th ovarian cancer quilt, and there are still more in the pipeline 🙂
A short note to let you know your beautiful quilt has gone to a good home in Perth Western Australia. My mum is an ovarian cancer survivor of 10 years. Your quilt will be a cherished piece in our family which will be handed down from one generation to the next. A heartfelt thank you…
How very kind of you to let me know! I will write a follow-up post to let the team members know and link to this so they can read it for themselves. So often it’s a mystery where the quilts go… I wish your mum many more years of good health in which to enjoy her quilt 🙂 ❤
This is so nice to hear.
I do love hearing a bit of after-story; it doesn’t happen very often and I’m always so grateful for the news.
Yes!

Great to hear that the quilt has gone to someone who will treasure it through the generations (although I am sure all of them are family treasures), and that Debra’s Mum is doing so well.
Agreed, on both counts!
