SAL #71: a bit of progress, for a change!

Another 3 weeks, and amazingly, I’ve managed to make some fairly decent progress!

Before:

And after:

There’s a bit more at the top and another petal on the left. I’ve moved over far enough now that I’ve had to fold the pattern to make space for the new work. And of course, more grey background filled in.

Do click on the links below and go and look at what everyone else is working on. If there’s no post up yet, try again later, as we’re a scattered bunch, all in different time zones.

I just realised your pattern is not the usual (to me) grid with symbols for each colour in each square. It’s just colours, and it is rather small! That looks difficult!!

It’s a small chart photocopied out of a book I bought myself about a year ago by Kaffe Fassett, featuring his original designs for flower embroidery. I fell in love with it on sight, and once I’d found a tapestry frame large enough, I made a start. I can’t get hold of the yarns he specified here, so I’ve had to make my own substitutions; the colours are a little cruder, but I still love the effect!

It is amazing at how a little progress can seem to change the feel of the piece, this is such a beautiful chart, you will look at it with pleasure every time you see it in years to come!

  7. Purple, cornflower blues and green are fast becoming one of my favourite colour combos. It’s stunning.

Wow, that’s great! I’ve just come off a stressful phone call with a distant friend. Looking at that sea of stitching had the effect of calming my nerves – thanks for that.
