SAL 68: another petal

It’s that time again – already!

I’ve scarcely touched my tapestry project; I’ve been immersed in quilty projects for the past few weeks, and I surfaced only a few days ago, when Avis’ reminder went out. Eek! Time to start stitching. I think it probably shows in my lack of progress, but I have got another petal stitched in. Bottom left, in case you were wondering where, exactly!

Before:

And after:

I’m having trouble getting some of the colours I’ve used. I don’t know why, but it has meant I’ve needed to make substitutions where it doesn’t affect the outcome or overall effect too much. This latest petal is a case in point; that pale greyish lilac is a new colour.

Do click on the links below and go and look at what everyone else is working on. If there’s no post up yet, try again later, as we’re a scattered bunch, all in different time zones.

The next SAL will be on 30th September. See you then.

Well you’ve been very busy with quilty things so not bad progress

  2. Maybe you could form a pact with Gun. You stitch a petal each time and she can do a new flower. Are you using tapestry or crewel wool. I have a few Anchor brand tapestry wools and could check shades. If not, I’m sure a shout out would get the colours you’re having trouble finding.

That petal fills a nice gap though! That quilt is taking your stitching time, but you’ll come back to this full force at some point!

I’ll be happy if I can just keep on plugging on with it. I’ve created my own bottleneck, and it’ll clear soon, just a few quite small things to finish up and the decks will clear as if by magic!

I like to do handwork in the evening, before bed. Soon I will have lots of dark to do so in and you will have lots of light to enjoy! It’s looking very good.

Even with all the quilting stuff you’ve done, I think you’ve still got a lot of stitching done too 🙂

I’d like to spend a good few guilt-free hours plugging away at it to make some real progress, but I’ve put too much on my plate right now and I’m struggling to finish it!

I know what you mean about being distracted by other projects!

  7. Every little bit counts! It’s nice to work on several things at the same time.

One petal on this flower monster is a lot of progress. Good for you!

One good looking petal! I know the feeling when you get the reminder from Avis. LOL!!!!

Looking great. Can’t tell you had to use a different color.

Given all the other things you’ve been working on lately it’s no surprise there’s been little progress on the needlepoint! Too bad about the issues with the thread you’re using. I owe you a long email; hopefully I’ll be able to stay well enough to do that!

  12. Catherine says:

It sounds like you’ve had a lot on, so I’d say you’ve done quite well! That’s a real shame about the thread. Hopefully you can work the replacement colours in nicely to blend if appropriate! There’s not much more frustrating than not being able to find the right threads!
