SAL 67: Now this is progress!

I got loads done this time 🙂

I decided to take the easy way out, and stitch in a load of background. It’s been a very busy few weeks since the last SAL, and mentally I wasn’t feeling up to careful stitch counting and colour checking, but I did want something to do with my hands. Enter two skeins of DMC 7618, and I was away, doing lots of lovely mindless filling in. Suddenly, my quarter done really looks a quarter done!

Before

And after 🙂

As this post goes out while I’m on holiday, I apologise if I miss any last minute changes to the list of participants.

Do click on the links below and go and look at what everyone else is working on. If there’s no post up yet, try again later, as we’re a scattered bunch, all in different time zones.

That is a lot of background done! Mindless stitching was just what you needed these past few weeks!

  3. Now, that’s a smart way to feel some sense of accomplishment. 😉 Well done.

  4. claire93 says:

well done Kate – a great sense of achievement bet!

  5. Hurrah for the filing in! Always there when times get tough 🙂

Exactly! I’d have done a bit more, except I didn’t have any more of the grey; I’ve had to order more, so here’s hoping there’s no visible colour change between the batches.

    Looks fantastic, great progress

  7. Catherine says:

Gosh, that is a huge amount! And the perfect use of your time when you’ve not been feeling up to the more detailed stitching. Enjoy your holiday!

Struggling to believe it has been three weeks, but I can see it must have been. Super progress.

  9. wybrow1966 says:

How stupid am I? I had to look back after the comments to see all the background work that you have completed! I am not terribly observant – great job!

It doesn’t really show up much, being grey. I looked at the before and afters and was fairly unimpressed! I think if it had been a nice bright colour I’d have found it more noticeable.

Wow, that’s a lot of stitching! Backgrounds are great for stitching when you don’t want to concentrate 🙂

  11. Wow certainly is great progress. Sometimes plain can be boring but when you are doing something as intricate as your flower then a bit of plain so you can really see some progress is good for the soul.

  12. Amazing progress. What a difference the background makes!

  13. Christina says:

Wow, fantastic progress! Love the grey background and I think it’s a fab idea getting it done as you progress to the next quarter of the flower.

  14. lbick says:

Lots of progress! Looks really great. Nice that you were in the mood for something mindless and not waiting until the end and being total bored.

  15. JJ Crafts says:

Wow! So much progress! And I’m really loving this project. It’s going to look so gorgeous.

  16. Lindashee says:

    That’s a huge chunk done haha !

  17. tonymarkp says:

It must have been so satisfying to just zip along through all the background. It’s coming along well, and the partial background helps the colors of the flowers come out better.

  18. Emmely says:

That’s not a short cut, it’s sensible! Sometimes you just need some speedy progress and it would have been super boring if you left all of the background for last.

  19. teamwilsun says:

SO MUCH PROGRESS! Hey, your needle doesn’t know what color yarn it’s threaded with — you’ve filled in a lot! Great job — and your holiday also looked beautiful!

  20. rutigt says:

Wow! This is what I call Progress!!!!!

  21. That’s a TON of background stitching!! The gray really set the flower off perfectly.

  22. Carole says:

That’s a lot of stitches! It makes so much difference too.

  23. rosejasm says:

I would have never of thought the background could make such a difference! After doing my angel I am certainly appreciating doing the purple on Eeyore, your right about it been good when you don’t have to concentrate!

  24. Way to go! It’s always nice to see some progress:). It keeps you motivated. Enjoy your vacation!😊❤️
