… does so much more good than just a little bit!
And what I fancied in this context was a big slice of my decorative blocks at the bottom. Here’s where we were before:
And here’s where we are now:
Sorry the colour’s a bit off; the top image is more correct. Anyway, I’ve slightly changed my plan. There will now be two large blocks in the middle, and two narrower blocks on either side of them. I’ve made a good start on both the large ones, which as you can see are both in the very dark blue. I wanted to see how they’d sit side by side, which is why there are two unfinished sections. The smaller panels either side will be in the mid blue.
As always, the others in the group are working on fabulous projects which you can see by clicking on the links below. We’re in different time zones and post at different times on the same day, but if there’s nothing new there the first time you check, it’ll be well worth your while going back for a second look.

See you next time, on 25th June.
You are making great progress. Can’t wait to see more.
Thank you! I think those two blocks are going to be fun; quite different from each other, but pretty.
just beautiful !
Thank you!
I’ll bet you have just the place marked out for this on a wall in your house somewhere haven’t you?
Actually, no… But there’s loads of space on the walls in the upstairs hallway, so perhaps I’ll start a gallery!
Love the two blocks, looking beautiful 🙂
Looking great, what’s next?
Finishing the two decorative blocks, putting the small borders either side, another border underneath, and then finishing the two side borders. A while to go, then!
It should look really pretty when it’s finished
those recent motifs must require a lot of concentration and counting – looking great!
Yes, not something I can do while watching the TV, that’s for sure… But I’m really pleased with how they’re coming along.
Well done Kate
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with how it’s going.
Kate, your post just made me realize that you are choosing this design as you go? Or are you just moving things around on an existing pattern? WOW! I really like the look of that big block on the right. THe other one is nice too, but the right hand side reminds me of something, I just can’t place it yet. I love watching this one develop!
A bit of both. It’s a pattern, but I’ve adapted freely if I didn’t quite like what was there! To me, the right hand block is reminiscent of traditional Hungarian .
Something about the design of the flowers, it’s just so folksy I guess.
Good progress. As to color of the photos, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t worry about it much. I “fix” the color as well as I can for my own records, and then when uploading to WordPress, both the color and photo quality change. And then each person’s monitor will display the colors still differently to them. It’s hard to tell what color people will perceive, no matter how careful I am.
It’s bizarre how much things change, when you consider I shot the photo in the same place, on the same setting with the same lighting as the previous one… And you’re completely right about the monitor colours; all my photos look garish on the Husband’s but dead right on mine!
Those new intricate designs are so lovely.
They are pretty, aren’t they, and I’m enjoying working on them a great deal.
This is looking wonderful! I had no idea there were blocks at the bottom of it!
Yes indeed! The one on the right shows the height they will be. Under them will be one more border, and then that’s it.
I exclaimed out loud, “ooooh!” 😀 Obviously, I’m loving these new bottom blocks!
Me too! Not just pretty, but kind of fun to stitch as well!
Love the latest blocks. Can’t wait to see more of them 🙂
Not too long to wait 🙂
Oh wow I was not expecting something different on the bottom. So lovely!
Thank you! I fancied a chunk of solid stitchery down there to anchor things…
Ooo, I like the way this is headed! It’s going to be spectacular when completed.
I’m loving the effect of some solidity along the bottom edge. It’s not that far off, if I can keep up some momentum, and as I already have the next piece planned, perhaps I should consider a gallery wall for my samplers!
Don´t you have a pattern to follow? I mean, are you free stitching, because this is so great!!!!
Not really free, there’s a basic pattern, but I’m moving elements around and making changes quite freely!
Well, it´s looking really good!!
Thanks!
Love this piece more with each stitch.
I think this is one I’m going to be very proud of, and will hang on the wall 🙂
oh wow, that’s a lot of stitching! It’s looking great! Are you making the design up as you go then?
There is a basic design but I’m ad-libbing freely and changing things all the time!
