I’ve got a bit more done 🙂
No cyclones to hold me up this time, but I haven’t got as far as I’d intended because of needing to finish the TWX quilt in time for the beginning of May.
Here’s the previous version, crumpled hoop mark and all…
And here’s the update. Not a lot, but not totally shameful either 🙂 And at least this time it’s pressed.
I’ll be taking this sampler away with me on holiday, and hopefully I’ll find time to put some stitches in it amongst all the other fun. Don’t you just love that little fan border at the bottom – so cute! Next come three large square motifs in a row, each about the height of two rows of letters. I can’t decide whether to work left to right, right to left, or middle out. Well, you’ll see soon enough!
Do go and see what all the other SAL members are up to. There are some truly beautiful and amazing pieces being worked on. We’re all over the world so posting happens at different times. If you don’t see a SAL post the first time you look, it’ll be worth going back to check. Here are the links:

See you next time, on 14th May.
Very nice Kate, every stitch counts. Which I need to remind myself of also 😃
You’re right. There’s no point at looking at the work and thinking you won’t bother to pick it up because you won’t get much done. It all adds up…
I do love those cute little fans! I’m glad that you are taking this along on your trip😀
It’s the only way to make any progress before the next SAL post. Plus I’ll (hopefully) have good daylight to work in… pray it doesn’t rain every day I’m away!
Every stitch counts. This looks amazing.Have fun on your holiday.
Thank you! I just need to get that line of fans finished and then I’m into the bit I like best 🙂
Love the blues – can’t wait to see the finished piece
It’ll be a while, it’s only just over half done… 🙂
Looking good, you’re making your way across there
Slowly but surely!
All progress is great. Maybe its time to restart my flower fairy!
That sounds like an excellent plan!
What a difference the pressing makes – it’s a bit like the transformation you get when you block knitting.
Yup, exactly. The work is always crumpled and creased after I’ve finished with it, so getting the steam iron on it and ending up with something nice and crisp make my stitching look so much better!
Love the fan border, enjoy your holiday 🙂
Thank you, and thank you! I’ll be posting while I’m away, the usual travelogue stuff, probably.
Yes I love the little fans, but then I love everything about this one and so enjoying watching it grow. Have a lovely holiday.
Thank you 🙂 I’m looking forward to a longer break, it’s been a while since we took more than 4 days of annual leave in one go!
I always think the before & after photos are a great way to show progress. While you say you haven’t made much, you’re definitely making quite a lot!
It doesn’t feel like it when I compare my progress with others, but I suppose that’s my mistake!
Good going Kate. Ghave a great holiday
Thanks 🙂
So I´m not the only one having a non inspired stitching period these last three weeks! But your embroidery looks great so far!
I did actually spend several hours on mine, but it just doesn’t show!
🙂
Yes, I do really love the fan border and all the rest of the design as well 🙂
Oh good, I’m so glad you like it!
It’s looking wonderful, and definitely not shameful like my attempt this time round! It looks like a good holiday project – have fun!
Thank you, I certainly hope to, weather permitting.
I love that for this design there are different borders.
I’m so used to seeing the same border around the entire design. It looks great!!
Thanks! I thought a bit of variety would be good, both visually and from the stitching interest point of view 🙂
I think that little fan border may be my favourite part so far. It’s so pretty!
Small, but cute!
Still looking very pretty. Love the fan motif at the bottom too 🙂
Hopefully I’ll finish that while we’re on leave, and maybe make a start on one of the big blocks 🙂
I hope you enough stitching time during your holiday to make for satisfying progress on this but not such bad weather that all you do is stitch and read!
Our days are still long enough despite the onset of autumn that I can sit outside in the evening after the day’s activities and still have light to stitch by. I’m just not very good and sitting and doing nothing, so stitching is very much on the menu.
