A slight change of plan

Sorry, people, I’m going to be out of service a bit sooner than planned.

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 10.30.43 amI’ve been brought forward on the surgery list from 8th June to 3rd June, so I have to fly back down tomorrow.

Not scared, not worried, just a bit flustered at having to get cracking earlier than I thought. And actually, deeply grateful that the pain’s going to stop a whole lot sooner.

Please forgive me if you’ve commented and sent good wishes and I haven’t replied. I will get round to everyone and every comment in due course, but right now there’s a lot of organising to do.

Normal service will resume… soon, I hope.

Well that’s good really, the sooner the better. All the best for a speedy recovery. Don’t worry about us, we’ll be here whenyou get back xo

  2. No reply necessary. Just lots of prayers coming your way.

  3. nettyg says:

Yes, hurrah from here too, sooner is good, with just enough breathing space to collect your thoughts and hubby. Don’t worry about replying, we’ll be here when you get back.

Sadly Himself cannot get away till the Monday I’m discharged, but that’s when I’ll need him most anyway, so it’s fine. It’s not as if I can’t talk to him on the phone or Skype.

    That’s good news! Godspeed!

Good news! Don’t worry about us, just float on our prayers and good wishes. 🙂

Barely time to absorb one schedule and there is another. But it seems for the best. Hugs.

    • katechiconi says:

Much for the best. I was a bit flabberghasted when the call came through; I thought we had time to make arrangements at leisure… Never mind, less time to fret 🙂

  7. Yes !!!! Soon you’ll be healing and up and about again.

My candle(s) are lined up with the first one glowing again and will remain so until I hear news that all is well after surgery. Good side the by the original date suggested (8th) you will be on the road to recovery. Any chance hubby could post a comment here to let us all know how you are doing.

There is no need to reply to our comments, just concentrate on ‘you’, we will be here when you are ready. xxx

  11. Good news that you’re jumping the queuel I take it that the missing bit of kit will be there in time. I think about you all the time, and pray for the elimination of pain.

The surgeon has decided to do without it for the sake of getting me fixed in a more timely manner. It’s a new thingy he designed himself, and can manage without quite well, he just wanted to have it to play with! I’ll be out of surgery and floating on pink fluffy clouds of morphine by Saturday afternoon. Pain? what pain?

Excellent news. No reply needed. Very best of luck for a successful outcome. Hugs, Cathy xx

Sounds good! Thanks for keeping us up to date and don’t feel that you need to go back and comment on our good wishes – we know you’ve read them!
Looking forward to hearing from you when you are recovering nicely and are back ‘in service’.
All the very best and you will be in my thoughts.

  14. It’s amazed me how you’ve kept on blogging let alone sewing whilst coping with such debilitating pain. I wish you the best of everything over the next period of time but mostly successful surgery and a swift recovery.

    • katechiconi says:

Hello there! Blogging and sewing both have the advantage of being something I CAN do sitting down. Blogging I can even do lying down, as now! Thank you so much for the good wishes, and once again for your lovely coffee pot block for the Time for Teal quilt 🙂

  15. Take care. Your health is the most important thing.

    • katechiconi says:

It feels rather alarming to be told that your spine is crumbling 20 years before you could reasonably expect to hear that sort of thing, but as I’m otherwise pretty OK, I shall work to regain strength and mobility with some enthusiasm!

  16. EllaDee says:

Good news that arrangements are moving along… and soon you will be too 💐

  17. Kathy D says:

All the prayers, candles and good wishes have you ahead of plan. Continuing prayers for you and for the surgeon. Godspeed!

    • katechiconi says:

If you lot keep this up, the surgeon will only have to touch his tools and the job will be done!

      • Grannymar says:

Or let his hands hover over the damaged area sending our vibes in to do the work! 😉

      • katechiconi says:

That’d make a good photo: Dr Frankenstein at work. I will arise as the Bride of Frankenstein, complete with bolts!

      • Grannymar says:

And we will dance with you! xx Just trimmed my candle set to stand in the kitchen sink overnight (for safety) and I am off to bed. Safe travel, you will be in good hands… hovering or otherwise!! xx

      • katechiconi says:

Tucked up in my hospital bed, which miraculously adjusts to exactly the most comfortable angle. I have a view of trees, a nice room, a quilt from home on the bed and things to read and do with my hands. Surgery is 7am tomorrow morning, so I won’t have to fast too long either 🙂

      • Grannymar says:

Brilliant! May your day pass swiftly and sleep be sweet! xx

  18. Robin Murphy says:

Godspeed Kate, will be thinking good thoughts for your recovery.

  19. nettyg says:

    Which hospital….Royal Bris? or Mater?

    • katechiconi says:

Neither: Brisbane Private Hospital in Wickham Terrace.

      • nettyg says:

Ah of course, I was trying to picture where your great view was from, and your totter downhill. Great place to be.

      • katechiconi says:

I’m in my bed now, under one of my own quilts. I have a view of trees and rainclouds. So far, so good :-), everyone seems very kind and helpful, and I don’t have too long to wait.

  20. Kirsten says:

I’m glad they have been able to bring it forward for you as it sounded as if it was all becoming quite unbearable. I shall be thinking of you and hope you have a speedy recovery 🙂 x

  23. Oh my. Best of luck and here’s hoping your medical team are all on their ‘A-game’ on the third.

  24. kymlucas says:

Sending good thoughts, Kate. I’ll be thinking of you.

  25. I was thinking of you most of today. All the best, and I will keep a mental candle lit for you all day tomorrow!
