And we’re off…

Three and a half hours to go.

Screen Shot 2016-05-30 at 6.58.57 amI suppose I’d better finish the Moroccan Lamb and Chickpea soup I’m making for the Husband’s lunches. And the packing. And collect all my electronic stuff. And check in online. I had one fairly major blip yesterday when Qantas messaged me to say my flight had been cancelled. Waaaah! It’s all sorted now: I’m on a bigger, more comfortable plane that goes a little faster (10 minutes less in a plane seat, yay!) and nothing extra to pay. My blood pressure did go through the roof, briefly.

I wanted to express my very great appreciation and gratitude for all the good wishes, prayers, candle-lighting and positive thoughts that have been wafting my way since I first discovered my back problems have become acute. I hope to pay you all for your efforts by making a full and pain-free recovery. Meanwhile, I feel borne up by it all, and there’s a real sense of the force and power of good thoughts and intentions, which I hope will guide the surgeon’s hand when the time comes.

If surgery happens this week, it’s unlikely I’ll be posting except for my scheduled F2F posts, which are already done and dusted and waiting to go. One here, and another over on the footsquarefreestyle blog, to launch the start of this year’s block swap.

See you soon, hopefully with excellent news to share.

I have my three blocks for June 2016 ready and waiting to start the ball rolling so just waiting on your safe return to send the photos to you. Bonne Chance, Bon Courage and Bon Voyage. Xx

Get you, first out of the blocks and all ready to go!
In my hotel, recovering from the flight, the nerve-wracking wheelchair journey from the plane, the unyielding train seats, etc. Half an hour’s toes-up, and then I have to set out for the hospital, all downhill, apparently, and a 6 minute walk, so at the limit of my endurance. Happy days!

I pop in here occasionally to see your lovely work and I read your comments on Celi’s blog. Sending you prayers and support and good wishes for the best outcome!

Thank you, both for visiting and enjoying, and for the good wishes and prayers! A few scans and tests this afternoon, and then the visit with the surgeon tomorrow. After that, all will be made clear and I will have a Plan.

Best wishes. Humming a healing mantra for you… Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung.

    • katechiconi says:

I wondered what that was, that humming in the ether! The old Root Chakra is giving me serious gyp now. A few tests this afternoon, and then I shall spend the rest of the evening on my back to let everything recover from this morning. Splendid hotel in Brisbane, by the way, and I have a balcony with an epic view!

Thank you, my lovely. The journey was extremely uncomfortable, the hotel is quite the reverse. I’d like to get used to this level of comfort, thank you very much… Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

  13. I’ve not stopped praying for you since the beginning. All will be well. You’ll be on the mend in no time at all. Looking for a miracle. Blessings and Love, Lorij

    • katechiconi says:

I don’t demand or expect miracles, but I’ve just gathered up all the worry and fear and just Let Go. I am on the wings of everyone’s good wishes, and in the safe hands of an excellent surgeon.

  14. You will come home stronger than ever and make quilts and moroccan lamb soup until you’re 100 ❤

  15. Lovely to hear you’ve arrived safely and that your hotel is good. Now: Relax, occupy your mind with something creative and before you can say Jack Robinson the excellent surgeon will have done his work and you’ll be on your way home.
    Lots of love,
    ViV xox

You’re probably already with the surgeon, but God Speed to everyone.

  23. A little story for you. Years ago, my father and I sat in a surgical waiting room while my mother was in surgery. My dad, a church deacon and gentle soul, offered up silent prayers throughout not only for his wife’s recovery but also for the surgeon, the medical team, the hospital, and the blessing of medical advances.

The doctor came out and we rushed toward him to hear the news. He shook his head. Time slowed. Then he explained —- they had an emergency and hadn’t started her surgery yet.

My dad and I sat down again. “All those prayers wasted on some other patient,” he said. “I hope it did them some good. Now I’ve got to start over!”

Sending light and prayer to you specifically!

    • katechiconi says:

I’m pretty sure my brother is sending up some powerful stuff on my behalf, which is understandable, but I’ve been so touched and delighted by the outpouring of good wishes, prayers, and positive thoughts and crossed fingers of relative and positive strangers online. Give people a need, and they WILL meet it. Love your story 🙂

  24. I can’t believe I’ve been so disorganised as to fail to arrange a Skype chat with you. Hohum. Once you are home and feeling up to it let me know and we’ll talk. In the mean time, I hope all goes well – hurrah for modern drugs and skilful surgeons.
Oh and love to Husband of Chiconia too 🙂

    • katechiconi says:

The hope is that I’ll be allowed home tonight, even if it means for only one night to repack, scoop up the Husband, book new flights and accommodation, and then set out again together on Thursday for surgery on Friday. In an ideal world, surgery would be early next week so I have time to research and process what is going to be done to me. But there are no guarantees. I’ll email if I get home and maybe we can set it up if we’re both free.

  25. Kirsten says:

Fingers crossed for you 🙂 x

  26. Magpie Sue says:

Looking forward to hearing good things about your surgeon and the plans for your immediate future. Sounds like we have no reason to expect anything other than a good outcome!

    • katechiconi says:

I suspect, having seen the films of last night’s scans, that it may be sooner rather than later… The X-ray in particular, which is something that hadn’t been done yet, scared the pants off me. It looks like the top half of my back is all set to slide straight off the bottom half. I’m being very careful to avoid jolts just now… But all reports I’ve heard about this surgeon have been excellent.

  27. Glad the hotel is nice, makes up for awful plane seats a bit. Best of luck! 🍀
