Homeward bound…

It’s been all too short, but it’s time to turn for home

My favourite beach

There have been some splendid highlights: seeing friends and family to re-forge and strengthen the bonds of love and friendship; making new friends; exchanging gifts; refreshing our spirits with the abundance of natural beauty around us in this small patch of heaven; wonderful food and drink; and last but not least, the company of the darling Husband to enjoy it all with.

We’ve covered thousands of kilometres, and still have about 1500 to go, but long distance travel is the price we pay to live in this beautiful country and still remain connected to the ones we love.

I leave you with some photos…

Loot! Macadamias and macadamia oil

Tomorrow I hope to post the August F2F round-up, travel and energy permitting, but for now, it’s time to head north and turn our faces towards home. 🙂

Lovely pics… which make me nostalgic to be back.
I spy a corner of delicious raspberry almond slice photo-bombing the macadamia products… so good I can still savour the taste.
Speaking of good, oh the Bellingen bacon was divine, with Taylors Arm eggs and toasted Dorrigo bread for our dinner 🙂

It is good bacon, isn’t it? We stopped by and bought some for ourselves on the way home! And you’re just going to have to try the raspberry almond slice recipe for yourself! It’s not at all hard.

  2. Safe journey… we’ll be glad to have you home and sharing some great makes with us!

Soon, soon! We’re halfway home tonight, one more day on the road and then we’re home at last. I have laundry and cleaning to do, and then I can get back to creative pursuits.

  3. Looks like a great trip. I can almost hear the gull cries. I’m waving here from Land of No Real Vacation Time.

I’m sorry to rub salt in the wound! Most of ours are bracketed by unreasonable amounts of travelling time, so we’ve tried to turn the journeys into a smooth, painless hiatus time. Not that successful so far, but we’re working on it.

  4. There is nothing like a road trip…except home. I always loved visiting. Makes homecoming even sweeter. Going backwards here. I missed where you went to so I’ll have to go back and look. have a wonderful day.

We went south about 950 miles to visit friends and family, stayed 4 days and came home again. One final leg of the journey to do today, and then I can sleep in my own bed again!

  5. Gorgeous pictures. Bonne route et bon retour.
    love,
    ViV

A vacation is always a must to clear the heart and head, but coming home to your very own home and bed is bliss!

The days away seem to go faster, too.

Very true, which is painful when you’re visiting friends and family you don’t see all that often… Ah well, they’re just a Skype away.

And, you know, when we consider the many who have no home it’s a great blessing to have a home to go back to.
