SAL 12: Kowhaiwhai third quarter progress

Well, here we are again. Doesn’t time fly when there isn’t enough of it?

Here’s where I was last time.

And here’s where I am now.

Screen Shot 2015-05-30 at 8.39.25 pmNot too bad really, despite my usual overload of other commitments, not least of which is having to do double time on the quilt because jury service, which starts tomorrow, is eating up all my stitching time. And before you ask, no, I can’t take any sewing into court with me! When the quilt activity got too much and I had to change position for a while, I picked this up, and consequently have made decent progress.

As often happens, I’m the first to post because my Sunday starts earliest. This time, we’re joined by Cathy – welcome! – a new member of the SAL. Give the others in later time zones a chance to wake up and publish their posts, and then do hop over and take a look at what they’re up to:

  1. I was in the chorus/jury for Trial by Jury, many years ago, and during the entire action (for 8 performances) I knitted a striped scarf. I kept dropping the balls of wall and people kept tripping over the (by the end) 10 foot long monstrosity. It all added to the jollity on and off stage.

    Your sewing is growing beautifully.

Oh, how wonderful! I’d have paid good money to see your stripy scarf and escaping ball. Only one more quarter left on this piece and then I’ll have no excuse not to dig out the big ANZAC job for the Husband… 😦

  2. Carole says:

Wow, you’ve got loads done this time 🙂

I’m not convinced that the gap was actually three weeks this time. It certainly didn’t feel like it 😉

  3. claire93 says:

you have done loads!!!! will you be having a happy dance next time, I Wonder ^^

  4. lucyannluna says:

You have managed to complete loads., it’s looking really good now.

I love the colours you are working with. Thank you for my welcome.

I love your cross stitch colours. Such a pity you are not able to take it into court with you. Nor start a long scarf for that matter. 🙂 Hope you get time to complete quite a lot more before the three weeks rushes around again.

Lunchtime and I´m working on my blogpost 🙂 Your embroidery looks great!

Cross stich is so relaxing. Mind you it is quite a while since did a piece. Until I have my eye surgery, I am playing with bulkier items … knitting with eight yarns at once!

    • katechiconi says:

Once your eyes are done, you won’t know yourself. The Husband’s aunt had cataracts done in both eyes, and she’s gone from being unable to see her tatting to being quite unstoppable!

      • Grannymar says:

I have had both cataracts done successfully in the past few years. This time it is a Macular hole in my right eye. I am on a list for surgery, but it might be August before I am called!

      • katechiconi says:

Best of luck, keep us informed and everyone will be crossing fingers for you.

  9. Jule says:

Great design and some pretty good progress. 🙂

  10. It’s fantastic, Such a striking design 🙂

  11. minerva says:

Wonderful! When this grows it grows quickly (unlike mine) so the progress must be really pleasing. Looking foward to seeing more!

That’s the big advantage of using only two colours to embroider with! The next project isn’t going to make nearly such good progress, I guarantee!

  12. wendy says:

wow, you did a quarter of it! that’s such good progress!
