Just add yellow

I was feeling a bit blue. In pain, not making much progress with the unpacking, intimidated by the scope of work in the garden…

So what was wanted was a dash of yellow. Blue + yellow = green. The antidote for the blues is, I find, all things green.

Anyway, after that somewhat convoluted explanation for the title, I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves. Green, green and more green, with a dash of pink.

It’s making me want to make a green quilt. Some of the patterns of the leaves and in the leaves just shout ‘quilting design’ at me. And appliqué, and maybe some embroidery. It feels nice to get my creative mojo back; it has been sorely lacking the last couple of weeks.

I must go and put some pink birthday candles on the cake for my sister in law. It’s a very nice cake – I’ll be posting about it on Monday, but by that time it will have been reduced to a few crumbs…

  1. I suspect it is impossible to feel blue with tiny frogs to admire.

Make a yellow cross into the blue and you´ll have a Swedish flag 🙂

Moving is one of those ‘big stress’ events in one’s life – overwhelming. Baby steps will get you through it. And I can’t wait to see your new quilt idea!

It’s one of those situations where I have to decide which of three urgent things I have to do first, and somehow always pick the wrong one! Those huge Monstera leaves with the holes in are just demanding to be integrated into something…

  4. Sorry you’re feeling blue and in pain – fellow feeling winging its way to you. The pictures cheered ME up anyway! Thank you.

I love the blase expression of the froglet in that last photo, with his eyes half closed, as if he’s some jaded film star who just can’t be bothered to smile for the camera!

  5. Those tiny frogs are so adorable and cute! And your 3rd image posted here is just beautiful. The way the leaf looks highlighted by the sunlight is just stunning – and just the right amount of yellow added, I believe.

you have a very good thought – adding a yellow color brings higher dynamics!

  7. Those big leafs with the homes in are just awesome. Me I need blue, a lot of blue in order to feel good……

That’s Monstera Deliciosa, which most people know as a large house plant, but which grows like crazy here and actually produces fruit. I need blue too, but not the kind that means you’re feeling sad. I like all the other kinds, from the darkest midnight blue to the bright aquamarine of the tropical sea!
