The green light

We’re off and running….

Screen shot 2014-08-26 at 4.30.17 PMThe contract has been signed. Tomorrow I have a flurry of financial stuff to do, but the upshot is that we settle in 30 days.

It’s a good job we don’t have to rush to leave this house, because I’ll be doing a lot of the packing myself, and I’m not sure I can get it done in time.

Now that it’s here, I’m feeling an overpowering sense of relief. I’m going to sleep well tonight, and not only because of the very large celebratory drink we’ll be having tonight. These four walls have grown tighter and tighter over the last few months after we acknowledged that we really don’t have enough space for comfort. In a month, we can expand and grow and stop bumping into things and edging around furniture.

There may not be a whole lot of sewing happening for the next few weeks, but you never know!

  2. Félicitations. Don’t exhaust yourself packing – that’s how I broke 2 vertebra this time last year: let the moving men do it for you.

Remerciements! We’re only moving 7km, so we’re doing the move ourselves; the Husband has an HGV licence so we’ll hire a medium sized truck and do a couple of trips, and we have time to do it, because we don’t have to give vacant possession of this place straight away.

  3. Exciting times are ahead 🙂

Thank you so much! There’s going to be a short burst of intense activity, and then I’ll be able to settle, arrange furniture and all the bits, and start creating the garden. I’m so looking forward to it, I can’t tell you!

Congratulations. At least while you are packing you can be planning and making mental lists. It’s always such a process regardless of if you use removalists or not… at least if you can do it yourself you gain not only financial savings but peace of mind knowing your posseions will be treated well, and hopefully you can unpack as you go.

Exactly! And I particularly like the fact that as the move is so short, I don’t need to empty every drawer and container as you’re supposed to with a ‘proper’ move. It’ll be us, the ute, the trailer and a 2.5t truck with a tailgate lift. We also don’t need to be out of our current place by a certain date, so have the luxury of a leisurely move if we want it – for now, anyway!
