The quilt top is done.
Now I can safely put it to one side and concentrate on the Jumble baby quilt during the day, and Steampunk in the evenings. Oh, and embroidery for the next SAL post on Sunday 20th. We’ll be away for 4 days from Monday, so I’ll take it with me for evening handwork – fewer bits to get lost than with Steampunk, plus hopefully I’ll actually make some progress!
I still have to get backing and binding fabric for Amistad, so a swift shopping trip is called for, but it’s going to be in and out – I have too much on to spend time browsing luxuriously.
Back to the machine.
Amistad is so pretty – those lavender pieces do add another dimension as you said they would. It’s a shame I don’t live nearer to you as I have some lovely pieces of orange and yellow baby fabrics left from one I made here http://thetialys.wordpress.com/2013/09/16/a-brief-digression-into-baby-stuff/. They might have gone well with the bits you already have but there is a distinct possibility the baby might arrive before the postman in this case. Give me more notice next time!!
That’s a lovely quilt, and rather sophisticated. I hadn’t realised the backing was cheater till I read it, here I was thinking that your hexagon piecing was immaculate… Scraps from this quilt would have been marvellous, but as you say, it would be a bit too late. I’m totally making this thing up as I go along. There’s no design, no theme, no originating idea. I’m just knocking out 8″ blocks, and I need 30 of them. Some will have to be just plain squares, some will be pieced in varying numbers of patches. And I’m very much hoping there won’t be a next time for any more urgent baby quilts. I’d quite like some notice myself!
This is so pretty – makes me think of spring. The lavender bits really give the top some movement.
I had a short period of doubt when I laid it out. Was it too girly, too pink, too floral? But now I love it again. The fabrics are very pretty close up – lots more detail than you can see in this photo.
Well I would say if you’re going girly, pink and floral, you might as well do it with gusto.
stupendous ! and even your pegs tone in 🙂
Yes, well, I’m sad enough to choose pegs that go with whatever I’m pinning on the line to photograph… I have a rainbow selection. It’s a pretty colour scheme, isn’t it? The fabrics are even nicer close up.
you mean the pegs weren’t random? good grief!!! 🙂
I did say I was sad! But I couldn’t see me using bright red or something that would clash…
I really like it! Thank you for reminding me of the SAL 🙂

Thank you. I’m looking forward to seeing your new flowers.
Pretty!
It’s sweet, isn’t it? A lovely reminder of a great friend.
It’s so pretty!
It is, and it has given me no trouble to put together. One of my more enjoyable ones.
