One of the things a Liebster nominee is supposed to do is nominate the next people down the chain. I’m finally getting round to that bit.
Yes, it’s a chain, but a benevolent one, since instead of threats of bad luck haunting you forever if you don’t pass it on, there are positive effects. You potentially gain a new reader or two, you investigate other blogs with an eye to nominating them, and you widen the scope of people reading yours. As a 3 month old blogger, my circle of acquaintance is fairly limited, and many of the people I follow have long passed the Liebster criteria of being newish and with under 200 followers. Some of you have already been nabbed by my nominator, too!
I was nominated by the Belmont Rooster, who is scrupulous about following the rules and politely asking people if they’d be prepared to be nominated. Personally, I feel that nominations should be just put out there. If you’re nominated and don’t feel like responding, then don’t. There’s a bit of work involved, but it’s not arduous, it is interesting, and it’s nice to have a little logo to stick in your sidebar. So, on that basis, I’m nominating YOU:
By the time you read this, I will have contacted each of you. Because you don’t all have public email addresses on your blogs, I’m going to leave a Comment on your latest post. It will have a link to this blog, so you can see what’s involved.
First you need to tell us 5 things about yourself. C’mon, that’s not too tricky…
Then you need to answer 10 questions. Here are your questions. Not too many, not too hard, not too personal. You need to answer these and write a new set for your nominees.
1) Why did you choose the theme you use for your blog?
2) How often do you post, on average?
3) What’s your favourite writing spot?
4) What are you passionate about?
5) What do you hope readers take away from your blog?
6) What do you feel constitutes blogging bad manners?
7) Do you get excited about your Stats?
8) Do you think a blog is for personal expression or sharing ideas, or both?
9) Salt or sweet? Pretzels or chocolate?
10) PC or Apple Mac?
Displaying the Liebster logo on your blog isn’t too hard. If you decide to go ahead, and you’ve done your homework, you can find numerous Liebster Award logos on the internet. Pick one you like. Put it in your library. Copy the URL it gives you when you’ve done so. Go to Appearance, scroll down to Widgets. Drag the Image widget to the menu on the right, place it wherever you want the logo to appear (it’s in order of appearance). Give the widget a title (Awards, Liebster Award, something like that). Paste the URL into the field at top and bottom where it asks for it. Save it. The logo should now appear like magic in your sidebar. There are some pretty cheesy ones out there, so keep yourself nice and pick a good one! There’s a decided preponderance of pink and girly. Eeuw.
OK, that’s that little job done. Now my conscience will let me move on…
